Finely grate lemon zest to make 1/2 tsp; juice lemon to make 1 tbsp. In bowl, stir together 2 tbsp melted butter, the lemon zest, lemon juice, brown sugar and cardamom.
Arrange peaches, flesh side up, in 12-cup baking dish. Brush flesh with butter mixture. Bake in 400°F oven until peaches are softened and beginning to brown, 25 to 35 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Top each peach half with scoop of ice cream.
