Method
In microwaveable bowl, combine dates, 2 tbsp hot water and butter. Microwave until dates are softened, about 90 seconds.
Mix in flour, brown sugar, maple syrup, cream, baking powder and egg; mix until dough is smooth. Pour batter into 1 1⁄2-cup microwaveable cup; microwave until tester inserted in centre comes out clean, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
Caramel
In microwaveable bowl, combine cream, sugar, maple syrup, butter and vanilla. Microwave until sauce is thickened and bubbly, about 1 minute.
Using toothpick, prick reserved cake all over. Pour sauce over cake; let cool for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped walnuts.
