Winner of 2013 Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown
Every year,
Ocean Wise, a
Vancouver Aquarium conservation program that raises awareness of the issues surrounding sustainable seafood, has a big chowder competition held in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. This week's showdown in Toronto meant some serious competition, but the judges (Martin Kouprie from
Pangaea Restaurant, Jamie Drummond from
Good Food Revolution, Brad Long from
Café Belong at Evergreen Brick Works and Agatha Podgorski from
Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance), came to a decision. The winning bowl of chowder went to Chef Doug Neigel of
Trattoria Mercatto with his Zuppa di Vongole.
The People's Choice award went to Chef Leanne English of Sodexo Canada with her Maritime Chowder.
