How to colour sugar cookie dough
Making
sugar cookies is one of those
fun afternoon projects that's sure to get kids interested in baking. Set up a table with royal icing in a variety of shades and display an assortment of candy to decorate with and you're good to go! For a little switch-up, try adding a little colour to the dough itself. I like to use
food colouring paste to do this -- it gives the dough a beautifully uniform and vivid colour once it's baked. Here's how to do it!
{1} Form dough into a ball
{2} Using a toothpick, add a little paste food colouring to the dough
{3} Knead a few times until uniform in colour
{4} Refrigerate the dough as directed, roll, cut and bake away! If you'd like to try it out, here is my all-time favourite
sugar cookie recipe, and our fail-safe
royal icing recipe to finish decorating the cookies once they're baked.
