Confessions from the Test Kitchen -- Essential (and surprising) items in our First Aid kit

The Canadian Living Test Kitchen has all of the essentials found in any first aid kit. The burn gel gets used occasionally, as does the antiseptic cream along with the bandages. There are however a few peculiar finds that are not found in a typical emergency kit. Additional items include...
  • Nail file
  • Clear nail polish (in case of some last minute hand modeling how-to photos)
  • Nail polish remover
  • Tide stain remover stick (this is replaced quite often even though we wear aprons)
  • Floss (there is a lot of taste-testing going on)
  • Pepto Bismol and Tums antacids (for those days when there is too much eating going on and not everything gets along in our bellies)
  •  Advil extra-strength--for the occasional headache
  • Cough drops
  • Breath mints (for those mornings and afternoons when your breath is so tainted with garlic that it walks into a room before you)
In other words, our First Aid kit must-haves have now overflowed into a secondary container located next to the essentials.
