6 Food & Drink Trends Taking Over 2025
While we loved the sleepy time mocktails and tasty tinned fish of 2024, we’re ready to take a bite into something new.
Viral pastas, protein-dense salads, and our favourite sweet treats were all the rage throughout the year. Moving into 2025, we’re holding onto the health- and planet-conscious undertones of today’s culinary world and ushering in a new wave of tasty treats.
We looked to trend reports from Whole Foods, Instacart, and Pinterest to tell us what home chefs and restaurateurs are looking to sip and snack on in 2025 — and we’re so ready for them.
Crunchy Snacks
This is a trend that we're here for! Crunchy snacks are having a big moment, with spicy chips, seaweed, and crispy chickpeas topping the list of most-ordered treats. Grocery mogul Whole Foods expects that international snacking will continue to grow as consumers crave more global flavours.
Fun cakes
@keishacakesisdope This is a great way to announce you’re expecting and gender reveal all in one. Congrats to my customer and thanks for the video. What do you guys think of the burn away cake trend? #caketok #cakedecorating #burnawaycake #cakeart ♬ original sound - Keisha Cakes
Quirky cakes, for birthdays and more, took over our feeds this year. From burnaway cakes to celebrity crushes to rat cakes, Pinterest predicts that we’ll be seeing a lot more of this next year.
Non-alcoholic drinks
Low-ABV and non-alcoholic bevvies are a sector that is only continuing to grow, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials. According to Instacart, non-alc canned cocktails skyrocketed by 400 percent in 2024, with non-alcoholic wines, beers, and spirits following closely behind.

Martinis
On the flip side, it’s safe to say that 2024 saw the resurgence of the martini. We expect to see this continue into the new year with crisp cocktails featuring olives, a hint of lemon, or even pickles. Pair 007’s favourite bevvy with a delicious snack — like these Sicilian Marinated Olives — for the aperitivo of your dreams.
High-protein ingredients
@foodswelovetoeat We all see cottage cheese having a moment and i am here for it! I used to think it was gross but as soon as i started treating it like ricotta/Burrata, a whole new world opened up! So here are 3 totally delicious ways to get yourself hooked! Also, this is not sponsored by any brand but i do have to say that my fav flavor/texture/consistency is currently @good_culture cottage cheese! It’s honestly so good and it’s packed full of protein which im loving right now! Got a flavor combo you’re digging? Drop it in the comments to share! ⭐️Cottage Cheese Toast Flavor Combos⭐️ 1️⃣ @aldiusa Protein bread, cottage cheese, @kansascitycanningco crispy chili oil, honey & flaky salt 2️⃣ Olive oil griddled sourdough rubbed with fresh garlic, cottage cheese, tomato bruschetta & balsamic glaze 3️⃣ Toasted sourdough, cottage cheese, @dalmatia_spreads fig jam, honey, toasted pistachios & flaky salt #cottagecheese #cottagecheesetoast #cottagecheeserecipes #highprotein #cheese #cheeselover #toast #cheesetoast #easybreakfast ♬ original sound - FOODS WE LOVE TO EAT
Cottage cheese made a big splash in 2024, and it looks like it isn’t going anywhere next year. The versatile dairy product, alongside other good-for-you snacks like Greek yogurt, is a great way to get extra protein in a deliciously simple way.
Pickles
Step aside, bread and butter pickles, this is a job for dills. In 2024, Pinterest saw a 100 per cent rise in searches for quirky pickle margaritas alone. We’re expecting to see this tangy trend make its way into salsas, fries, and even cakes.
DIY pickling will also be on the rise this year. Pickle cucumbers, onions, and more for a quick and tasty addition to any meal.
