Method
In small skillet, heat 1 tsp of the oil over medium heat; cook garlic and basil, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add tomato paste; cook, stirring, until beginning to caramelize, about 1 minute. Scrape into small bowl; stir in ketchup and remaining 2 tsp oil until combined. Season with salt.
Makes about 1/2 cup.
