Preheat barbecue to medium heat (about 350°F); grease grill. Soak 6 toothpicks in water for 5 to 10 minutes.
Divide asparagus into 6 small bundles of about 4 asparagus each. Spray asparagus with cooking spray. Wrap each bundle with 1 slice of bacon. Insert toothpick into bacon to hold in place. Season with pepper.
Place bundles on grill; cook, turning often, until bacon is crispy and asparagus are tender-crisp, 10 to 15 minutes.
