A summer spent interning with a jewellery designer in Brooklyn, N.Y., was the tipping point for Vancouver-based Katherine Huie. A graduate of the fashion-design program at Toronto’s Ryerson University, Huie soon took what was once a hobby (jewellery making) and started Foe & Dear in 2009. She offers delicate handmade fine jewellery and skillfully merges dreamlike details with minimalistic design. For 2017, Huie launched a line called Beauty from Nature. “It focuses on precious metals and raw gemstones, designed with careful consideration and deliberation of every detail,” she says.
