Have money (almost). Will travel! Income Tax season has come and (hopefully) gone. If you're one of the lucky ones who's getting a return chances are you're considering an RSP of some kind, or perhaps you're treating yourself to a trip. According to the Canadian Revenue Agency, the average refund for Canadians is $1,650. That's not enough to buy you a ticket around the world but it's certainly nothing to sneeze at. Expedia.ca, the popular online discount travel agency, has developed an interactive tool that identifies specific trips to meet your budget. To help you "stretch that return," Expedia.ca recommends booking package deals (air and hotel) to save up to $500.

Here are three budget-savvy tips from Expedia to consider when you're booking flights: 1. Tuesday is the best day to book flights 2. Monday is the worst day to book flights. 3. The least expensive day to fly (versus booking) is usually Wednesday. So where would I go with that amount of money? My own personal wish list: •  From Toronto: I'd book a long weekend in Chicago •  If I lived in Montreal: I'd head down to Vermont for a rustic lodge stay and perhaps some hiking. •  If I lived in Vancouver: I'd splash on a spa weekend in Seattle.
