Yes, you read that title correctly. When I first heard about the BroApp, available on Google Play for Androids for $1.99 CAD, I thought it was some kind of joke. Surely they had to be kidding -- an app to help 'bros' communicate with their significant others by scheduling texts from a selection in a drop-down menu? Alas, they weren't. This app exists just as much as Angry Birds does, and according to the Google Play store, 500-1,000 bros have installed it so far. I bet you're curious about how it works, eh? I sure was. Well, let this preview video enlighten you. [HTML1] Hey, bro! Have I piqued your interest? I bet you're wondering what happens if you get caught. Conveniently, the developers have answers. According to their website, the app comes equipped with a 'girlfriend WiFi' detector, so it won't send messages when you're at her place. Similarly, it also has a recent contact detector, where it won't rapidly message your girlfriend, in case she gets suspicious. (I'm actually laughing as I write this post.) Um, don't you think you have a problem, already, if you have to hide this from your lady? Here are some examples of "Bro Powered" messages available for programming: - Hey babe, how was your day? - Wow, what a day, how was yours? - See you later darl I'm floored. As if texting didn't kill human interaction, we now have to deal with an app that "maximizes relationships" for bros by scheduling what should be impulsive texts to their significant other? I don't get it. And what irks me is that there's a market for this app. We rarely ever have phone conversations anymore, let alone share detailed text messages with one another. Are we really living in a world where we're letting bots run our relationships. How upsetting! Do we really need an app to help us maintain our relationships? Or rather, do bros need an app? If bros do, then they probably shouldn't be in relationships in the first place. If you don't have the time, energy and the mental capacity to grow and nurture a healthy relationship with a significant other, it might be time to reconsider your partnership, bro.
