The 2013 National Bridal Show: Our favourite finds
I attended
The National Bridal Show in Toronto this past weekend and was able to peruse through some of the top trends in wedding styles for 2013. From DIY-style décor to elegant and timeless dresses, here's a roundup featuring some of our favourite picks.
1. Everyone loves a candy bar. Nothing entertains guests -- adults and children alike -- more than a self-serve candy bar at a wedding. Use mason jars, vases and containers filled with your favourite candy, or simply pick ones featuring your wedding theme colours for a fun addition to your special day. This display was part of the

Brides can purchase customized garters for their special day, featuring a personal touch. Whether you share an inside joke with your husband-to-be or want to wear something just for yourself on your wedding day, the team at bridalgarters.ca stay true to the tagline for their designs -- garters with attitude. The folks at Dessert Table Inc. drew me to their booth with a wonderful display of colourful desserts beautifully showcased in shot glasses. Consider unique ways to entertain your guests with food by skipping away from the traditional serving trays and opting for more fun selections. Laurel Scheller, an independent stylist for Stella & Dot, drew me to her booth with her colourful homemade décor -- just check out the photo below! Consider skipping the tradition veil for your big day and opt for a customized fascinator to add some flare to your outfit. The fine folk at Blair Nadeau Millinery will work with brides to create personalized pieces for their special day. Whether you're going vintage chic or alternative, there are fun and fancy fascinators here for everyone. For those of you who don't know, Henkaa dresses can be worn in various ways, from simple tie-up halters to intricate wrap styles. These convertible dresses are especially handy when looking for styles to suit everyone in the bridal party. [caption id="attachment_14706" align="aligncenter" width="400"] Henkaa infinity dresses

Currently based out of Toronto but catering to a national audience, The Bride's Project works to provide brides with everything they need to make their day extra special, while ensuring that all their profits are donated to support various cancer charities. So once your big day is done and you're wondering what to do with your dress, consider donating it to The Bride's Project. Your thoughtful gesture will not only help out another bride, but will also make a difference in researching a cure for cancer.
