Hi friends, Having spent part of the long weekend crossing things off my crafty to-do list, I turned around this weekend and added a bunch of projects to the bottom of that same list! I can't help it – I don't like it when I don't have a project or two to work on. (And now I have about four...)

As you can see, I have big plans: a new bag, a new skirt, and (once I'm warmed up and feeling  brave) maybe even a dress! I bought the book on Friday night and pored over it while enjoying brunch on Saturday; then I headed to The Workroom, where I picked up the other two patterns and chose the fabric for my bag (the green stylized flowers and the multi-colour floral). On Sunday I noticed that Fabricland is having a clearance sale – I got the skirt lining (in white) for $2 and a cotton-linen blend (the blue-green) for $5. Excellent!

When I got home to that tempting pile of fabric last night, of course I wanted to jump right in and get sewing! But first I had to prewash everything, then iron it, cut the pattern pieces out...oh, and read the instructions. I got that far, then looked at the clock, and realized that the rest would have to wait for another day. Sigh.

So I packed everything up (lest I spill cereal all over it the next morning) and I'll tackle it again tonight or tomorrow. Maybe then I'll have enough time to cut out the pattern pieces, and then on Thursday I might get down to actually sewing. In the meantime, I'm going to re-read this review, and then go off on a search for an invisible zipper foot for my sewing machine.

Although I'm really eager to wear my new skirt (so much so that I had to re-jig my wardrobe plans this morning!), my experience with making the dress shirt showed me that when sewing clothes, slow and steady wins the race. It's a case of valuing the process as much as the product – a difficult thing, I think, because I'm used to just going into the mall and coming out with a new shirt or a new skirt 15 minutes later!

Do you prefer the process, over the product, or do you like them both equally? Does it vary depending on what you're making? I'm interested to know.
