As predicted, I over did it…
The Gourmet Food and Wine Show has come and gone and was memorable and delicious. We had a great tasting menu cooked by the chefs at The Boiler House in the Distillery District in TO paired with Concha y Toro selection of Chilean Wines.
Here is the Menu:
East Coast Lobster Chili with 4-year old Cheddar Cheese Sandwich Garnishes
Pan seared foie gras and digby scallop, ox-tail fricassee and cafe au lait jus (totally over the top decadent)
Mini valrhona dark chocolate pot de creme – that was served with 2005 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon that was a truly divine pairing!
Over-all though, the show has and left me bloated, over-indulged and morose - too much carbs, wine and sugar. Christmas is around the corner and so I’m heading on a healthy eating regime for the next couple of weeks before I’m tempted by Christmas treats and libations. I’m writing it down in the public domain, thinking that maybe it will keep me honest.
However… I do have that trip scheduled to Montforte cheese farm this week and there is the Cadbury Chocolate fashion show tomorrow night, I may have a problem!
